Welcome to Rock Ridge Cemetery
Welcome to Rock Ridge Cemetery—the final resting place for generations of families, veterans, and community leaders.
About Us
Welcome to Rock Ridge Cemetery—Sharon’s historic resting place at the junction of East and Mountain Streets, cared for by the nonprofit Rock Ridge Cemetery Association. Here, worn 18th-century stones stand beside newer markers; the earliest identifiable grave is Elizabeth Capen (1760), and veterans from every American conflict are honored across its tree-shaded hillsides. Rock Ridge is also the burial site of Deborah Sampson Gannett, the Revolutionary War heroine who disguised herself as a man to serve—an enduring symbol of courage and the often-unsung role of women in our nation’s founding. As both archive and living memorial, Rock Ridge preserves Sharon’s story while offering a quiet place for remembrance and reflection.
Types of Burials
At Rock Ridge cemetery, graves are purchased as Lots. The way in which you choose to lay at permanent rest determines which type of Lot will work best for you. This purchase is only for the land and general cemetery maintenance (Perpetual Care). All Lot purchases, whether buying one or in multiples, are paid in full at the time of purchase.
Perpetual Care means mowing the lawns and maintaining roadways, it does not include individual Lot maintenance.
Lot prices do not include the cost of individual Lot maintenance, nor items placed upon the Lot such as monuments and flat markers. Those are the responsibility of Lot owners and subject to the cemetery's Rules and Regulations.
Additionally, purchasing a Lot does not include opening charges. Opening charges are to be paid at the time of the burial. See our rules and regulations.
